Brazil and Denmark have for many years have excellent diplomatic relations. In 2007 Brazilian President Lula da Silva was on an official state visit in Denmark. The president, his wife and the other honourable guests were warmly welcomed by Her Majesty Queen Margrethe II of Denmark, other members of the Royal Danish Family, government ministers, members of parliament and not at least the Danish people. Likewise back in 1999 Her Majesty Queen Margrethe was on an official state visit to Brazil. The Queen and her fellow guests were also very warmly welcomed by the Brazilian president Fernando Henrique Cardoso, the Brazilian government and the Brazilian people.
