Excellent industrial product design has also been one of the major reasons why Japanese electronics, cars and many other Japanese products have been very successful internationally. Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) believes that design is becoming even more important in Japan now. Design is no longer only used for giving shape to ground-breaking technologies and new functions. Now design is increasingly used in improving the quality of products in general. The Japan Institute of Design Promotion (JDP) each year awards excellent design with the Good Design Award. The Good Design Award is given to design that enriches everyday life and is inspiring with an outstanding quality. Award winning items can be promoted with the "G Mark". The G Mark is know by most Japanese consumers.
